Roger Murff brings more than 25 years of experience building and scaling software businesses to Lightspeed, where he supports over 300 portfolio companies with go-to-market strategy, ecosystem growth, and product partnerships.
Roger was an executive at Databricks, where he was part of a team that grew the technology partner ecosystem from the ground up to over 500 partners representing 20% of total company revenue. Before that, he held leadership roles at AWS, Box, and Microsoft, helping startups and enterprises alike define new markets and scale from pre-revenue to IPO.
Roger’s path into venture wasn’t conventional, but it was deeply entrepreneurial. After earning dual engineering degrees from Brown University, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malawi and became a Rotary Scholar at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. These global experiences—along with time spent coaching swimmers and teaching abroad—continue to shape his collaborative, people-first approach to leadership.
When he’s not advising founders or helping scale the next generation of software businesses, you’ll find Roger in the ocean (trying to stay upright on a surfboard), in the studio (sculpting), or outdoors with his family.
