Pinn Lawjindakul

Partner // Advisor. Southeast Asia. Growth.

Pinn joined Lightspeed in early 2020 as the first member of the Southeast Asia (SEA) team. She is focused on helping grow the Lightspeed platform in the region and invests primarily in consumer and financial technology companies.

Pinn‘s career began at Bain & Company, where she advised private equity clients on due diligence in the first wave of technology start-ups in SEA. Within a few years, enticed by the possibility to radically transform the region through innovation, she decided to join Grab – then, the ‘David’ ride-hailing company trying to take on the ‘Goliath’, Uber. Having been an operator in the early days of Grab, which became the first Decacorn of the SEA, she understands the intricacies of scaling a business across the multi-country region.

Pinn graduated from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania with a double degree in Finance and Psychology. Prior to Lightspeed, Pinn has worked alongside founders across all business life stages in China and India, most notably in companies such as Flipkart (sold to Walmart), Ola, Hike, Razorpay, and Uxin (NASDAQ: UXIN). Having spent meaningful time in the U.S. and around the world helps her understand trends in mature tech economies and contextualize those learnings to emerging markets in SEA.

“Great founders are grandiose in their vision but humble in their actions,” says Pinn. “They learn voraciously, find people to cover their blind spots, and never take anything for granted”. She finds it energizing and meaningful to support ambitious founders on their entrepreneurial journey. When she is not in the trenches with CEOs and their team, you can find her playing basketball, snowboarding, or practicing Vipassana meditation.
