Mark Sui

Partner, Growth Private Equity. Menlo Park.

Mark joined Lightspeed in 2024 as a Partner on the growth private equity team, where he focuses on collaborating with founders and executive teams to drive durable, profitable growth. Prior to Lightspeed, Mark was an investor at TA Associates, leading numerous investments in technology companies across various stages (ranging from $20 million to over $500 million in revenue), sectors (including IT, healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, and government), and strategies (spanning product-led organic growth to high-velocity M&A consolidation).

Growing up in the heart of Silicon Valley and in a family of engineers, Mark was immersed in a culture of creativity and technological innovation from a young age. This environment sparked his early interest in investing as a compelling opportunity to engage with companies building the future.

Mark’s early development was shaped by his passion for basketball and headstrong pursuit of competing at the collegiate level. “That journey taught me to embrace risk and to be scrappy, relentless, and resilient – core traits that mirror my professional values today”, said Mark. He brings this approach to his work at Lightspeed and with its portfolio companies.

Mark credits his parents as his greatest mentors, as their hardships and sacrifices in immigrating from China laid the foundation for his strong work ethic and drive. “They came to the U.S. with very little and no knowledge of English, bounced around from Rhode Island to Minnesota to Houston to California, and worked day and night to support our family. My struggles pale in comparison”, he says.

In his free time, Mark enjoys playing various team sports, particularly basketball and pickleball, that keep him connected to his competitive spirit. Mark holds a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Claremont McKenna College.
