John joined Lightspeed’s growth private equity team in 2024.
Growing up in Austin, Texas, John experienced the rapid growth and evolution of the technology industry in his own backyard. While his community was experiencing this change, John also got to see how to build a company firsthand from his father, who worked at a leading software business coming out of the dot com crisis. This confluence of factors spurred John’s interest in both business and technology companies. He took this curiosity to his prior roles in investment banking where he also observed the importance of mentorship.
“The people who made the biggest impact on me in banking were not only incredibly bright and talented, but also cared about me as an individual and took me under their wing. They invested their time in helping me grow personally and professionally. I always want to make sure to pay it forward, just as they did for me.”
Prior to Lightspeed, John worked in the global technology investment banking group at Morgan Stanley, where he had the opportunity to work with best-in-class companies on Mergers & Acquisitions along with Equity and Debt transactions. Prior to Morgan Stanley, John worked at Financial Technology Partners, a boutique investment bank focused on FinTech. Outside of work, John enjoys running, Georgetown basketball, Formula 1, and exploring new restaurants. John went to Georgetown University, where he earned a B.S.B.A in Accounting and Finance, graduating magna cum laude.
