Generative NYC is back with Edo Liberty of Pinecone

The generative AI revolution continues to move at breakneck speed. Virtually every day a new startup debuts their AI-first product. Meanwhile, incumbents are hurriedly revising and expanding their AI strategies in an effort to keep pace.

It’s an exciting time, but also a disorienting one for startups that hope to differentiate their products in an increasingly complex marketplace, as well as for existing companies looking to use AI to improve existing workflows and boost efficiency.

At Lightspeed, we’ve always believed that in times of renewed innovation, few things are as powerful as community. It’s why we’ve launched the Generative NYC, Generative LA, and Generative SF meetups, allowing AI product builders (engineers, designers, PMs, and founders) on both coasts to gather on a monthly basis to explore the potential and discuss the challenges of this new dynamic operating environment.

We’re pleased to announce our second Generative NYC event, happening in less than two weeks. On June 13, Lightspeed partner Michael Mignano will be conducting a fireside chat and audience Q&A with Edo Liberty, founder and CEO of Pinecone.

Under Edo’s leadership, Pinecone has emerged as one of the most exciting companies in all of AI. Vector databases have quickly become a critical building block for anybody creating LLM-powered applications. Companies like Gong, Notion, Hubspot, Shopify, and Zapier are leveraging Pinecone to augment the performance of pre-trained large language models with their own, proprietary data. The company’s mission is to become the “long-term memory” for large language models.

Before founding Pinecone, Edo was director of research at AWS and head of Amazon AI Labs, as well as former head of Yahoo’s Research Lab in New York.

In addition to the fireside chat with Edo, this next Generative NYC will feature demos from three local AI startups to be announced, along with drinks, pizza, and stimulating conversation.

By bringing together generative AI founders, designers, engineers, and product leaders in real life and real time, we hope to accelerate understanding and unlock the possibilities of this exciting new technology.
