Investing in Doctronic: AI Healthcare’s 24/7 Digital Doctor

Primary care is a cornerstone of the healthcare system. Yet with an increasingly severe physician shortage and average wait times of over a month, over 100 million Americans do not have easy access to primary care. Although the administrative side of healthcare is improving thanks to AI-native innovation (including Lightspeed portfolio company, Abridge), the same can’t be said yet about clinical AI. With high accuracy requirements, regulatory hurdles, and the complex reimbursement dynamics, access to end-to-end AI-first “triage through treatment” has been limited.

In lieu of HIPAA-compliant AI platforms designed specifically for healthcare, patients are turning to horizontal AI platforms (such as ChatGPT), which aren’t built for the specialized medical accuracy and privacy safeguards that clinical use requires. These platforms also are not integrated with physician care teams, leaving patients short of the higher-level care often needed (i.e., specialist referrals, prescriptions, lab orders) or the counseling that a traditional primary care physician could provide. This is where Doctronic comes in.

Doctronic: A Digital Front Door to Personalized Healthcare

Doctronic has emerged as the leading consumer health platform on a mission to deliver democratized access to top-tier medical expertise, enable proactive healthcare, and unlock new care models with AI at the core. Doctronic serves as a 24/7 “digital front door” to healthcare, bringing together a proprietary, multi-agent “AI doctor” system, a centralized electronic medical record, and a national network of licensed physicians. This approach enables the delivery of both autonomous initial triage along with co-piloted treatment, seamlessly embedding AI across the care journey.

Today, Lightspeed is honored to lead Doctronic’s $20M Series A financing. We believe the future of clinical care requires solutions that address both access and accuracy, and that Doctronic has the momentum, the technical approach, and the market ‘why now’ to become the default digital entry point for healthcare. The company’s multi-agent architecture, accumulating health data centralization advantage, and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure provide it with an enduring foundation in a sector in need of disruption.

The result is clinical accuracy and patient trust. A new study of 500 real-world, urgent-care cases found that Doctronic and physicians agreed on a main diagnosis 81% of the time, treatment plans 99.2% of the time, and all with zero hallucinations. In the discordant cases, Doctronic’s AI was found superior to physicians 4x more often. This compares to base LLM clinical accuracy, traditionally in the 50-55% range, which simply does not meet the bar.

And the demand for a new AI-first consumer health platform is clear. In just the past year, Doctronic has performed 15 million AI consultations and served over 1 million unique patients globally.

Here’s a glimpse at what the company delivers today to make this scale possible:

The physician and engineer co-founders behind Doctronic bring a unique combination of AI, consumer, and clinical expertise.

Matt Pavelle has been building startups for 25 years with multiple exits. He is the former founding CTO of consumer unicorn Moda Operandi and comes from a family of medical professionals. Matt has a track record of successfully anticipating how AI product and infrastructure decisions should be made. Dr. Adam Oskowitz is a practicing vascular surgeon at UCSF and a widely published Associate Professor with more than two decades of experience at top medical institutions. Together, they unite deep technical skill, clinical authority, and a shared vision for reinventing healthcare from first principles. Doctronic is building not just an AI layer on top of existing workflows, but a simultaneous consumer and clinical-grade model for care.

Over time, we’re convinced that regulation and reimbursement will evolve, enabling AI systems to even further democratize access to personalized care. Doctronic is building the foundation for this future, positioning itself as the always-on, trusted first point of contact for healthcare.

Congratulations to the Doctronic team. We’re thrilled to be a part of your journey to transform healthcare as investors and as one of your millions of users.
