Ryan is the Global Chief Financial Officer at Lightspeed, where he leads the firm’s financial and operational strategy to support its continued growth. Drawing on over two decades of experience in private equity, venture capital, and corporate finance, Ryan optimizes financial structures, drives strategic initiatives, and ensures seamless integration of investor reporting, IT systems, and regulatory considerations across Lightspeed’s global platform.

Prior to Lightspeed, Ryan served as Global CFO at Accel, where he led firm-wide financial and operational initiatives, including technology implementations and fund structuring. Before that, he spent over eight years at TPG, rising to Managing Director and overseeing corporate finance, accounting, and operations for the firm’s $130+ billion platform. There, Ryan played a pivotal role in centralizing management company functions, implementing outsourcing strategies, and driving operational efficiencies. Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Director at PwC, advising global clients on financial transformation and strategy execution.

Ryan’s interest in venture capital stems from his passion for the intersection of finance and strategy, helping firms navigate complexity, structure for long-term success, and drive innovation at scale. He values transparency, efficiency, and scalability in his approach to finance and is dedicated to ensuring Lightspeed’s investors and portfolio companies have the strongest possible support from the firm’s platform.

Born and raised just outside of Toronto, Ryan studied in Montreal and has since lived in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, and Fort Worth. This diverse exposure to financial and cultural hubs has shaped his approach to collaboration and problem-solving, reinforcing the value of adaptability and cross-border teamwork.

Throughout his career, Ryan has benefited from strong mentorship, most notably from his father, an accomplished entrepreneur and engineer who instilled in him a deep appreciation for perseverance, problem-solving, and building things that last. This philosophy continues to guide Ryan’s approach to scaling investment firms today.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys smoking meats — a craft he honed while living in Texas — experimenting with brisket, ribs, and turkey to perfect the ideal flavor. He’s also a fan of early mornings, valuing quiet time to think strategically before the day’s demands begin.
