Will Wells

Will is a former AI Founder, advising Lightspeed on the fund’s Frontier tech investments into climate, deep tech, defence and science based infrastructure. As a recovering entrepreneur – exiting Hummingbird to Agreena in 2022 after having built the first software platform to measure soil health from space – Will is passionate about investing in the next generation of breakthrough science and technology. 

Will is also a Venture Partner both at firstminute capital ($400m European seed fund), leading investments into Climate and Deep Tech (10+ deals led to date), and Norrsken VC ($500m multi stage Swedish fund, started by the Klarna co-Founder). He is an active angel investor in the deep tech ecosystem. Will started his career in 2007 in M&A (an ‘interesting time’) and then moved to a hedge fund, focusing on technology and renewable energy investments, as a Partner at Highclere ($6bn AUM, Asia & Europe). 

Outside of VC, Will is on various UK govt Boards and graduated from INSEAD’s MBA program in Singapore and then France with a scholarship. Will is a keen supporter of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where he was a patient in 2013-14, doing any sports challenge possible to fundraise. Outside of work, Will likes gardening (or barbecuing) on his rooftop in London, and listening to Pink Floyd.

Faction advises its own fund(s) and does not advise any Lightspeed clients, and Lightspeed does not advise Faction or any of its clients. Lightspeed and Faction are parties to an agreement pursuant to which Lightspeed holds certain interests in Faction and the fund(s) Faction manages.
