DOUBLING DOWN ON ANTHROPIC

Recently, we announced Lightspeed’s lead investment in Anthropic’s $3.5 Billion Series E round.

Our team first engaged with Anthropic two years ago. At the time, they had fewer than 100 employees, no public product, and were pre-revenue. The company went on to launch industry-defining models, built strategic partnerships with industry giants including Google and AWS, and scaled at an incredible rate.

Our core belief at Lightspeed is that the biggest value from the development of AI will be unlocked at the foundation level. The most important applications are still being built, and the models that underpin them are essential to the next wave of AI evolution. So essential, in fact, that we estimate the next wave of AI technologies could power experiences and activities that represent $1.5 trillion in net-new revenue.

This new funding ushers in Anthropic’s next phase: a major advance in the next frontier of AI, and an acceleration of its adoption across the enterprise.

“What Can Medicine Do to Save the Most Lives?” Inside Aledade’s Mission to Transform Primary Care

Farzad Mostashari, Co-founder and CEO of Aledade, trained in internal medicine at one of the country’s top hospitals. But his career quickly took a turn when he joined the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service. It was there that Farzad became fascinated by how technology can change the way decisions are made in healthcare. He went on to spend the next decade rolling out electronic health records to transition doctors and hospitals across the United States away from pen and paper and onto computers. What he discovered along the way was an opportunity to transform healthcare by making it more profitable to prevent medical events than to treat them.

We believe Aledade is advancing this mission by transitioning practices from fee-for-service to value-add, risk-bearing care. As Farzad shares in this video, having an impact this significant requires long-term thinking. And we’re excited to play a part in the future of healthcare with our lead of the company’s $260M funding round.

Moveworks: A Look at the Path to a $2.85B ServiceNow Acquisition

Growing up in Silicon Valley, Bhavin Shah got a front-row seat to the internet boom of the late 90s and the entrepreneurs at the forefront. Inspired by the moves being made at the time, he started his own entrepreneurial journey in gaming, followed by mobile productivity. After one of the companies he cofounded was acquired by LinkedIn in 2015, he started Moveworks alongside Vaibhav Nivargi, Varun Singh, and Jiang Chen. What started as an enterprise SaaS solution for automating high-level IT support evolved over the years into additional product lines for sales, marketing, engineering, finance, and HR.

Now, the Moveworks team is celebrating its next milestone: joining forces with ServiceNow to help bring agentic AI to every employee across every business function. Last year, Shah sat down with us to reflect on Moveworks’ journey — one our team at Lightspeed has gotten to be a part of since the early days of the company.
