“I have a deep appreciation for entrepreneurs who hustle and persevere to build an enduring company.”

Natalie joined Lightspeed in 2018 as a Partner and one of the founding members of the firm’s growth investing practice. She leads investments in high-growth companies, with a focus on Enterprise and FinTech. Natalie brings to Lightspeed a combination of experience including early-stage VC, investment banking, and an academic background in engineering.

Natalie was drawn to venture capital for the opportunity to partner with founders as a trusted advisor. She has empathy for founders having experienced entrepreneurship first-hand. Natalie spent the 2000s working for her family’s import tea business in San Francisco. “I have a deep appreciation for entrepreneurs who hustle and persevere to build an enduring company,” says Natalie. “In addition to being a capital partner, I enjoy working with founders as a thought partner and service provider.”

Natalie began her career as an early stage investor at Y Combinator. She was tapped by YC Co-founder Jessica Livingston in 2013 to establish the sourcing framework for founders in university ecosystems when YC batches were 30 companies in size. Natalie also worked with YC Admissions on sourcing founders in research labs and frontier technology.

In between her two stints at YC, Natalie served as an investment banker and growth equity investor, which contributed to her helping build Lightspeed’s foundation for evaluating growth-stage investments. Natalie worked at Qatalyst Partners, a technology-focused investment bank in San Francisco, where she executed on a number of multi-billion dollar M&A transactions. Natalie also spent time at Accel-KKR, where she helped source software companies for growth equity investments and leveraged buyouts.

Prior to her career in investing, Natalie rounded out her experience in tech and engineering. Natalie graduated from Stanford with a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science Engineering and Master’s degree in Management Science & Engineering. She also had a brief stint as a Product Manager at Microsoft in Seattle. Now as an investor, Natalie thinks about how she can help advance technology by partnering with the brightest entrepreneurs.

Outside of Lightspeed, you can find Natalie in the ring boxing or doing Muay Thai kickboxing. A San Francisco native, she enjoys spending time with her family close by and rooting for the Golden State Warriors.
