Tim joined Lightspeed in January 2013 as a Venture Partner and focuses primarily on early stage investments in the enterprise, mobility and wireless sectors. He has 12 years of venture capital experience and 15 years of operating experience in technology companies.
Previously, Tim was a Managing Director at Storm Ventures where he led investments and incubated a number of companies with the Storm team in the mobility and enterprise sectors. Some of his investments include Airespace, 3Leaf Systems, AdInfuse, MobileIron, Rainstor and Averail. Tim joined Storm in 2001 as an Entrepreneur In Residence to incubate Airespace and is co-inventor of the first MobileIron patent.
Prior to Storm Ventures, Tim worked in the Corporate Business Development Group at Cisco where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, strategy and investments in mobility, wireless and VoIP. He co-founded the group responsible for Cisco’s Enterprise VoIP (Voice-over-IP) Business Unit, which resulted in multiple acquisitions and the development of the Cisco AVVID product lines. Tim was awarded the first Technology Pioneer Award by Cisco’s CTO for his contributions to the founding VoIP team. Earlier in his career Tim held engineering and product management roles at SynOptics Communications, Ameritech Information Systems and Ohio Bell Communications.
Tim attended Kent State University and is a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He is a dedicated sailor specializing in single handed off shore racing and is an avid fly fisherman.
